United for Medical Research Reacts to the Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Bill

June 24, 2015

WASHINGTON – The following statement may be attributed to United for Medical Research:

“We are extremely pleased to see the $2 billion increase for the National Institutes of Health included in the bill released Tuesday by the Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee. This represents a significant step toward correcting a decade of flat-funding of the NIH and a commitment by Congress to renew the effort to find cures that will save lives and healthcare dollars. We applaud the hard work of Chairman Blunt, Ranking Member Murray and the rest of the committee in putting forward a strong funding level for NIH and encourage the full committee’s support of this long-needed increase.”
